gOFFICE - And it’s not Google
gOFFICE is another web office application. Interestingly though, it’s not Google’s version of the office suite. The person that grabbed up that domain real quick was pretty smart I must say. I think they’ve got a little advertising conflict in that the page URL header states “gOFFICE.com Free Web Office Suite home page” but it actually costs $.99/mnth. Not much by any means, but certainly not free.
Here’s a short list of the features and benefits of gOFFICE:
- Feature: High quality PDF output
Benefit: Accurate printing fidelity that is not dependent on the computer or operating system used. - Feature: Unlimited source text storage
Benefit: You can pull up your saved texts and edit them from any supported Internet computer in the world. - Feature: Free letterhead designs
Benefit: Personalize your communications to make them more persuasive and attention grabbing. - Feature: Free fax service to US phone numbers
Benefit: Keep in touch with others at zero cost. - Feature: Free postal mail delivery
Benefit: Keep in touch with people that are not online, worldwide. - Feature: Nearly 1,000 free sample texts
Benefit: Write better using our high quality sample text. Modify our language and pass it off as your own, with our blessing. Note you must use our sample text online at this site… you can’t post the texts on your site, or edit them elsewhere. - Feature: Unusual fonts
Benefit: More appealing, interesting looking documents.
Potentially one of the best arguments I’ve heard for web office suites though was listed in their FAQ’s page:
Q. I already have Microsoft Office installed. What reasons would I have to use an online office suite?
A. This site complements Microsoft Office, and certainly does not replace it. Every Windows PC ships with Outlook Express, but millions of people also use web-based email.
