gOS: Is it good enough?
The last quarter of 2007, gOS debut in the computer industry with the so called gPC from a computer manufacturer Everex. At Wal-Mart, you can purchase something good and productive at around $200. That is the gPC, good PC that is.
With gPC from Everex, you can have a productive and low-cost personal computer. Good OS LLC, the company pursuing the vision of having good technology without much headache. gPC is pre-installed with gOS, which is bundled with open-source or free softwares that can be used for personal and business purposes alike. gOS is running a technology from Ubuntu and Enlightenment.

The main features here are how they presented web software and desktop software in this operating system. For web software, it includes Google Products like Google Docs, Gmail, GMaps, GCalendar, Blogger, Wikipedia, Meebo, Youtube, Facebook, and many others. Desktop applications also includes the following: OpenOffice.org Office Suite, Music & Movie Player, Gimp, Skype, Thunderbird, Firefox, and many others.
That’s quite a nice package they have there. You can try gOS using virtual appliance before installing it to your PC. I already downloaded WMware Player and tested gOS. All I can say now is - “It is not just good enough, but very good enough”. Try it, too.

I downloaded gOS and have it set to dual-boot with Vista. It is really fast on my laptop and I love it. The best thing about it is that there are no “extras” pre-installed. When I really want to get something done, I just boot into gOS and work. That way I don’t have games, IM’s, or other distractions to slow me down. I can just get down to work and get it done. I am installing some other packages to aide in my work, but for the most part, I love the simplicity of.
