Office Tweaks

Making most out of your desktop

by Jerome Locson on November 19th, 2007

ywidget.jpgI like my desktop to be as organized as always - icons aligned, files in one folder, and mostly having quick alerts and reminders for my daily tasks for work and school. I was doing good with my MS Outlook Calendar for managing my assignments, projects, and other schedules but I sometimes get tired of launching the application and wait until it loads. In checking my emails, I usually let my Outlook run on the background while doing other stuffs. Well, it uses my memory in the background doing a routine checking email in every 5 minutes. And I hate to many window applications opened.

So, with my dilemma here, I decided to tweak my desktop with some Yahoo! Widgets. To ease my new email notification, I downloaded abbeymail. It works nice and smooth, I set it to check my POP email account every 5 minutes. Yeah, same with Outlook but it does not eat to much memory since the widget is relatively small. And for my schedule management and other listings (I usually do this with post-its sticked in my monitor), I downloaded ToDo List which is as well cool and has sleek look.

Now all are set and my desktop is now more geeky and with style. I like to tweak my desktop with desktop widgets (gadgets for desktop, lol). Oh, by the way, Yahoo! Widgets works for both Windows and Mac OS. Not to mention that they have lots of choices to choose from. So, grab one now and give your desktop some style!
