For those who are Office Excel 2008 on Mac, here is something you might want to check out and help you SOLVE some Excel issues.
Frontline Systems developed the original Solver for Excel on both Macintosh and Windows. For many years, we’ve offered Solver upgrades for Windows users, that have gotten more and more powerful over time — but we haven’t been active on the Mac. We’re now applying more development resources to the Macintosh, motivated by the Mac’s resurgence in the market and the move to Intel processors. But the catalyst for this move has been Microsoft’s Mac Excel team.
Introduced during the Office 2.0 Conference recently, Zoho Docs now allows users manage Documents, Spreadsheets, Presentations created using their tools. Now, it can be stored and manage in a central place insid ethe Zoho Docs environment. Still, with this upgrade, you can share your documents for collaboration, label your documents, and allow control access.
With Zoho Docs, your Zoho Writer, Sheet and Show are now integrated in one environment which makes you easy to move around and edit files.
Zoho Docs gives you 1GB of storage space and allows unlimited users.
Well, one problem of Office 2004, if you did not upgrade it yet, is that it does not allow you to open and edit files with the .docx extension. This is natively not supported by Office 2004.
As you may know, .docx is the file document format for Office 2008. But, the solution is out already and all you have to do is upgrade your Office 2004 by installing Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac 11.5.0 Update Package. This basically delivers several improvements to enhance stability and compatibility with documents that were created in Office 2008 for Mac and Office 2007 for Windows.
Another tool that you might want to try to solve your problem with .docx compatibility issue is the Open XML File Format Converter for Mac 1.0 which converts Open XML files that were created in Office 2008 for Mac or Office 2007 for Windows so that you can open, edit, and save them in earlier versions of Office for Mac.
There are many other third-party tools and web-based application that provides you with the file format conversion. You might try Googling it if you want explore more.
If you’re a fan of Google web applications, then this might be a help for you. GMDesk is a tool that allows you manage all you Google apps like you have a stand-alone application for all. You do not need to open all those application separately but have it with GMDesk run for you in just one environment.
Fire up GMDesk, and just alt-tab (on Windows or Linux) or Cmd-tab (on Mac) to shift between this application and the other ones you are running.
GMDesk offers an easy menu as well as keyboard shortcuts to switch between different Google services, and you can specify what default service you want the application to start with. It also supports Google Apps access as well.
By the way, GMDesk requires you to install Adobe AIR before you can install the application itself.
I am enrolled to a Mandarin class this semester at school and learning Mandarin Chinese is really difficult, especially when you don’t have any background about the language. Like me, I really find it hard at the first few meetings. The instructor told us that we will begin the lesson learning the basic pronunciation and later learn some Kanji.
As we go along, I may say that I am still a beginner with the new language and has to learn more. Well, I then visit some Chinese websites to have a more hand-on with the language. Applying and practicing what you learn will help you more use the language. Then, I downloaded this Firefox plugin to help me out with the translations of Kanji characters when I visit sites. It is called Chinese Perapera-kun: Chinese Popup Translator.
Simply put, this extension will allow you read Chinese on websites. This is useful for just getting around a site, or even MORE useful if you are studying Chinese. It works with both Simplified and Traditional characters, and also allows you to…
This plugin was submitted by Justin Kovalchuk. I hope this will help you as well in learning Chinese. It really helped me alot.

Another productivity tool for everyone, now it’s a quick and multi-purpose launcher called Executor. Yup! Obviously to execute things out. Haha.. It is basically a more advanced version of Windows Run.
Developed by Martin Bresson, Executor gives you easy way to manage shortcuts of runnable applications or tools in your Windows system. It has many features which includes:
Keywords have properties like shortcuts, and you can for example drag-drop a shortcut/file/folder/favorite to add it as a keyword.
Auto-completion for keywords, file system and history (can also be configured).
Url detection, Enter URLs directly (like www.google.com, mail.google.com, google.com or http://www.google.com).
Keywords support parameters. Example “google latest executor” “wiki nirvana”.
Besides keywords Executor can also optionally and dynamically add matching start-menu items, control panel items and other handy items to the drop-down/list.
Ability to add your own paths to scan for user defined file extensions.
Keyword “find [text]” for using Windows Instant Search (Vista) feature or Windows Desktop Search (WDS for XP etc.).

Checking the latest at the Adobe Labs, I saw this income generating tool from Adobe PDF. Ads for Adobe PDF, which is powered by Yahoo!, allows to generate income with your published PDF documents. It is currently in its beta version and is only limited to some qualified publisher.
Ads for Adobe PDF is a new opt-in service that enables publishers to monetize their PDF content through advertising. The advertising service, powered by Yahoo!, automatically matches and displays dynamic, contextual ads in Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat when a user views the PDF. Publishers that sign up to participate in this program are eligible to be paid for valid clicks on ads. In this unique advertising relationship, Yahoo! helps connect advertisers from its extensive network of online advertisers with publishers that are distributing content through Adobe PDFs.
