Unexpected Errors

I’ve been using Office 2007 now for quite awhile. I’ve got to say I’m very pleased with every application I work with. There are some random things that have irritated me about some things, but nothing much different from things that bother me with final and existing versions of software that I use.
In my professional […]

Microsoft Office Apps Lite

As I was writing my last post about my experiences with Google Spreadsheets, I began thinking of some options for other solutions. If Microsoft wanted to shore-up some market share and make sure that webtop apps didn’t cut too much into their core business of packaged software delivery, they could offer a free, but stripped-down […]

Google Spreadsheets Update

I’ve been actively using Google Spreadsheets now for a couple of weeks. Working on a project with someone where we needed to both have access to a spreadsheet of names. I didn’t want us to keep e-mailing the document back and forth and trying to figure out which one was the most updated.
The problem though […]

Excel in Gmail via Google Spreadsheets

Did you notice it? That new little link in the footer of your Gmail message? You’ll only see it if you’ve got an Excel spreadsheet attached. There’s a quick link to open the document in Google Spreadsheets instead of just downloading it and opening it with Excel.
I just had a thought that I wonder if […]

Running Office 2007 Full-time

Yesterday evening I installed the full Office 2007 beta on my work laptop. This is a big step, but I figure it’s a good one to really pound out and test Office 2007 in the real world for me. I also figured it would help me get some more information and posts to get included […]

Google Office is Live

Looks like Google hasn’t just been focusing on their YouTube purchase and nothing else. The pseudo-tagged “Google Office” is now available at http://docs.google.com.
Google Office isn’t quite accurate though, the name on the site itself is Google Docs & Spreadsheet. Pretty boring don’t you think? And too long! I doubt they could have really gotten away […]

ajaxOffice AutoHotKey

Adam Pash provides a great overview and solution to people who may not need the features and complexities of a full-blown desktop Office suite. Adam feels that both Microsoft Office and OpenOffice are too bloated for his needs.
Before you go getting too riled up, I’m not heralding the death of the desktop Office suite. If […]

Google Spreadsheet Update

The Google Spreadsheet app has gotten a few more muscles under it’s belt with a recent upgrade.
Nothing too serious, mainly some upgrades to the cut/copy/paste functionality and formatting.
This has been out for awhile, how’s everyone like it? Share your comments with me, I’d love to hear your feedback.

Google Spreadsheets - Review

That didn’t take long. Just got the invite to try-out the Google Spreadsheets. In standard Google fashion, it’s a lesson in simple, clean design.
The overall functionality is what you would expect from your basic spreadsheet program: formulas, sorting, merging of cells, formatting, etc.
I would say everything an entry-level user of Excel would need, could be […]

Google Spreadsheets

Has anyone had any personal experience with Google Spreadsheets yet?
I just finished requesting a beta invite. When I get my access I’ll be sure and share a report on my thoughts and opinions.
My big question though, do you really think this is going to replace your use of Excel? I just don’t see it happening.
