Did you notice it? That new little link in the footer of your Gmail message? You’ll only see it if you’ve got an Excel spreadsheet attached. There’s a quick link to open the document in Google Spreadsheets instead of just downloading it and opening it with Excel.

That didn’t take long. Just got the invite to try-out the Google Spreadsheets. In standard Google fashion, it’s a lesson in simple, clean design.
The overall functionality is what you would expect from your basic spreadsheet program: formulas, sorting, merging of cells, formatting, etc.

Has anyone had any personal experience with Google Spreadsheets yet?
I just finished requesting a beta invite. When I get my access I’ll be sure and share a report on my thoughts and opinions.
My big question though, do you really think this is going to replace your use of Excel? I just don’t see it happening.
