Tech Tip: Making CD/DVD labels using Microsoft Publisher

by Jerome Locson on September 17th, 2007

Wonder how those CD or DVD are getting good labels? With all the colors and images, just like your movies and musics collection? Or, do you have numerous copies of CD/DVD which you need to get a nice label? Worry no more, here is a quick eHow’s steps on how to get those labels done with Microsoft Publisher.

  1. compact_disks.jpg Launch Microsoft Publisher through the “Start” menu or from the Desktop and create a new file. Scroll down under the New Publication pane and click the right arrow next to Publications for Print. A list of choices will appear underneath and you will need to select Label.
  2. Read down the list until you see “CD\DVD Labels” and select it by clicking on it. The right side of the window will display several types of labels for both the CD or DVD itself and the case of the disk. Make your choice of a pre-made template that you can edit or start fresh with a blank label. The margins are already outlined for both choices.
  3. Add descriptive text to the CD or DVD label and case. Click “Insert” and “Text Box” from menu at the top of the page.
  4. Save the label project. Click “File”, “Save As” and name the project in the File Name box and “Save.”
  5. Print the project using the type of label that was suggested for use. Labels that are for the sleeve of the CD and DVD can be printed nicely on card stock since they do not necessarily have to be sticky back.
