TextGlow = Silverlight 2.0 + OOXML

Unveiled during the MIX08 in Las Vegas last March 5-7, 2008, was the new and first Office Open XML Application called TextGlow.

TextGlow is a Silverlight 2.0 application for viewing Word 2007 documents (DOCX) on the Internet. With TextGlow it is possible to instantly view a document within a web page, with no Microsoft Office applications installed. Since Silverlight is cross platform the user doesn’t even have to be running Windows! [ source ]

Developed by James Newton-King under Intergen, TextGlow is a free tool and a cross-platform application since it is rendered using the Microsoft’s Silverlight technology.

Manager for Interoperability and XML Architecture at Microsoft Corporation.
“TextGlow is a great example of how customers can use the rich
functionality Open XML offers irrespective of platform or the productivity
application on their desktop.”
